How to set a song as your Android ringtone

In short: To set a song as your Android ringtone, make an MP3 of the part you want, then open Settings, go to Sounds and vibration, tap Ringtone, and use the add button to pick the file from your phone. Nagma cuts the song on the phone itself and saves the MP3 to Downloads, ready to choose.

Make an MP3 ringtone for your phone

Steps

  1. Open Nagma, tap “Choose a song or video” and pick the file.
  2. Drag the two handles around the part you want, then tap Play to hear it.
  3. Tap Android, then “Save the MP3”. The file goes to your Downloads folder.
  4. Open Settings, then Sounds and vibration, then Ringtone.
  5. Tap the + button or “From device”, and pick the file you saved.

Where each phone keeps the ringtone setting

Every Android phone works the same way underneath: an audio file on the phone, picked from the sound settings. Only the menu names and the place of the add button change. The table lists the usual path for each maker; names can differ slightly between system versions.

A ringtone for one contact

You can give a single caller a sound nobody else shares. Open Contacts, pick the person, tap Edit and look for Ringtone. On Samsung it sits under View more. Choose the same file you saved from Nagma.

Why your file is not in the list

What people ask

Does an Android ringtone have to be under 30 seconds?

No. Android accepts any length. A call rarely rings longer than 30 seconds, though, so a short cut that starts on the part you like works best.

Do I need an app to cut the song?

No. Nagma runs in the browser and cuts the song on your phone. Nothing to install, no account, and nothing is uploaded.

My ringtone is too quiet. What can I do?

Turn on Louder before saving. It lifts quiet audio to a clear ringtone level without distortion and never turns loud songs down.

Can I use a clip from a video?

Yes. Pick the video file as it is; Nagma takes the sound and ignores the picture.
